Those of you who I’ve had the opportunity to work with are probably aware of how long I wear my hair. Quite a bit long, I know. It’s been growing for almost two years, when I last really cut it. I’ve always had long hair. It’s my shield in a way. And it’s super easy to keep long hair, in my opinion. Over the past several weeks, I started to get tired of my hair and found myself wanting change. Last time I cut my hair, I donated it, but it was only cut to my shoulders. I decided this time, I would donate again, but CHOP it. Why not? It’s just hair. It’ll grow back.
After weeks of looking for short hair inspiration, I felt pretty good about my decision. Today was the big day and I was ready! Toni from Posh Salon & Spa was ready to make me over. I thought maybe I’d feel angst when the ponytail got chopped. Or that I would feel sad, or disappointed, but I wasn’t. I was relieved in a way. I cannot believe how light I feel now. I love the new look and the new feel. I just need to learn to style this new cut!
I’ve decided to donate to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program again. It makes me feel good knowing that a woman with cancer can make use of my donation of hair. Have you ever chopped your hair for a cause? What, you say you’re not brave enough?! Try something new and live without any regrets.
