I love to cook. Let me preface that with I love to cook when I have the time. Lately, the crock pot helps me out quite a bit and there’s nothing wrong with that! I try to involve my little boys as much as possible, so when we can, we turn to baking so they really get to enjoy a sweet treat when it’s all said and done.
Now, it’s one thing to be a Reno photographer, but I never claim to be a baker. I leave that to the pros. We “easy bake” and please don’t think any less of me for doing so! Last week, I thought it’d be fun and yummy to make pizookies. What is a pizookie, you ask?! It’s a gooey, over sized cookie that’s perfectly baked and served with a scoop of ice cream on top. MMMMmmmm! I picked up some good ol’ Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookie dough and we pressed that into little tart pans and popped them in a 350 degree oven for about 15 – 16 minutes. The hardest part about this process is waiting for those minutes to pass.
My boys were as patient as could be, but my oldest was glued to the oven in anticipation of his yummy treat. It was so precious to watch his face as he peered in, when he heard the timer go off and when he got to taste the sweet goodness. This is why everyone should bake with their children. We topped off each pizookie with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and voila! Dessert is served! We thoroughly enjoyed our sweet treats on this evening and my heart could not have been happier to watch my boys dig into their pizookies. It’s the simple (and sweet) things in life!
Didn’t get enough from my sweet treats? Then you need to read up on my fellow photographer, Tara Colburn’s sweet treat!
